As other reviewers have noted, this is a flimsy pad. Of course, it's designed for a kennel, so it makes sense to make it thin so it's easier to clean in the event of an accident. For now I'd say it's pretty solid, but time will tell. We have a Shepherd and a Beagle and I'm not sure which one will be stronger. I think there will be a beagle but both have already destroyed the large dog bed we bought a few months ago. The only other problem with being so skinny is that it moves around and is so easily nudged into their kennel when they are there. This will cause one dog to lie down on a hard floor and the other to lie comfortably on the mat. Although it's been washed a few times and is holding up pretty well so no complaints. ***Update*** I've since thrown this rug away. In my opinion, it didn't last much longer. With the laundry and the dogs chewing on him in the cage, he didn't stand a chance. Also, I didn't like the thinness of the pad - it moved too much and clumped very easily. If the dog just comes in and lies down fine, but if he's moving around a lot etc. forget it.
