Love this little knife guide! Ensures even cutting. It even works with hard-to-cut fruits and veggies. If the vegetable is very hard (like a carrot), do not insert the tines into the carrot. I touch the tips or tines on the top of the carrot and squeeze just enough to hold the cutting guide in place. Then a large knife (broad blade - chef's knife, etc.) and let the tines keep the blade straight. It works wonders!
