Your vehicle must be equipped with a trailer hitch.
This hitch is designed for the 2004 Ford Escape. If you choose to fit a towbar on your 01 - 04 Escape or Mazda Tribute it will only work if it is fitted with a towbar, otherwise you will need to order and install one. Otherwise, you'll have to connect to another follower and roll your way. The tow kit is just a relay that provides power to the plug and play wiring harness you read about. It's dangerous - the turn signal relay, which costs about $100 in my area and is only available through Napa Auto Parts. So remember, do your homework and find out what is the best option for you.
