Review on New Balance 940V4 Running Magnet Men's Shoes for Athletic by Matthew Sytniak

As frustrating as it is uncomfortable.

This is my first time wearing New Balance after wearing Brookes for 10 years. Also, this is the last time I'll wear New Balance. The first difference I notice between them and my regular Brookes Addiction is the size. Although both are on the US men's top 10 running shoe list, the NB is at least one size larger and about half a size wider than my regular running shoes. This creates a lot of room for my feet to shift and damage the arch and heel. I have a bad arch; hence the reason for motion control shoes; I also wear an orthopedic insole. No matter what brand or how many extra soles I put in these shoes, a simple 30-40 minute walk will result in severe arch pain in both feet, I will NEVER be able to walk in them. Also, the calluses on my heels crack every few days, which isn't fun either. At first I thought it was a menstrual break. I wore them to work for a week and yet they are probably the most uncomfortable shoes I've ever worn. Right now I turn on the foot massager to get rid of the pain of these things. I don't know what's so special about New Balance. I have absolutely nothing good to say. These shoes fail me on every possible level and I try my best to work with them. i feel anxious I can't buy $120 shoes anytime. I stuck with these walking torture devices until I saved enough money for a new pair of Brooks.

Pros
  • The shoe is lightweight, making it ideal for long-distance runs or other physical activities that require a lot of movement.
Cons
  • Shoes may not provide adequate stability for pronation problems.
