Adhesive is too weak for thick material

I liked the look of the contact paper, but in my opinion, this was not meant for larger projects like kitchen counters. The adhesive is terrible and began to bubble up immediately after application. Maybe the material is too thick? I have a very small kitchen and 4 rolls wouldn’t even complete the project. Not worth the money, wasted $50.
