Great picture - Painful FTP setup that should have been easy

UPDATE *10/24/2018* I received an email from the seller offering a refund or a different camera becomes. As I noted in my review, the image quality is and remains 5 stars. Extensive training is required for the functions to function properly. Some additional things I learned: To set up an email if your email (like Gmail) never works but doesn't tell you why, leading you to believe it's the wrong password. I created a separate Gmail account just for the camera and turned off two-step verification. in your Google account settings. Basic settings for emails with image attachments: SMTP server = smtp.gmail.com Server port = 465 Encryption type SSLAuthentication = ONUsername = myCamAccount@gmail.comPassword = myPasswordSend = myCamAccount@gmail.comSender = myCamAcco unt@gmail.comSubject = Motion The Camera 1 Test button sends a test message with one image per account if everything works fine. If it works, it takes about 10-20 seconds. Wi-Fi was very stable, unlike some other cameras I have. It turned out that it is difficult to avoid false triggering of the movement. This applies to most cameras I've tried. The bugs are attracted to infrared light, causing the camera to move. Sensitivity settings, even very low, will still cause this. Still a pretty good camera, with general caveats. In this price range, the price-performance ratio is very good. ****** Firstly, if I had to rate the camera on image quality, I would give it 5 stars. Initially, setting up the CamHi app for IOS went pretty smoothly. The documentation is terrible. To install the micro SD card, all you had to do was tighten 4 screws and insert it into the slot until it clicks into place. The card touches the front of the camera. Motion detection lets you choose a portion of the screen and then a sensitivity level from 1 to 100. This requires some trial and error. The main reason I wanted this camera was for the FTP capability so that image files would be stored in a safe place even if the camera is removed. Connecting to my Netgear ReadyShare via FTP using the phone app proved to be a 6 hour ordeal. The lack of screenshots with the right settings required trying every imaginable combination, but none of them worked. Finally, I installed a Windows application that also had a screen for setting up FTP configurations and tried them all again. After repeatedly working with each combination, one finally earned oneself. Basic parameter values: Server Addr = just an IP address, nothing else. Example 10.10.1.1 Server Port = 21 Username - Appears to be case sensitive. You must use security. If your FTP server is set up locally with no external connections, you still need to log in. By default, NETGEAR ReadyShare does not require security. Be sure to enable popups when working on the Netgear configuration screens, otherwise you'll never see the screen where you enable it. Chrome never showed the popup, had to use Edge to get it. Password (case sensitive) Passive mode - I disabled mine, but it works both ways. The path is my root folder name is usb so I set that value to usb/ I hope this saves someone else some headaches. I'll reset everything and try again and see if I can set everything up just through the app. I will update this post later. Well it blows. I restarted the camera and was able to complete the setup in just a few minutes in the CamHI app. Until I came to FTP. With the previous work values I captured in the screenshot from both Windows app and CamHI app, I can only connect FTP to CamHI app. I have to go back to the Windows app, which I completely uninstalled with a restore point, and set the values there. Some error in CamHI app. Once the values are set by the Windows application, the CamHI application will work, but only after they are first set by the Windows application. PLEASE FIX AND CHECK THE FTP PART OF THE CAMHI APP!
