This shelf was exactly what I needed for a slight recessed wall in my utility room. I saw others I liked better for one reason or another but all were 1" or more too wide for the spot I had. So this was the one I got. I have several baker's racks so I know how to assemble them. It's not hard but can be a little tricky getting the first shelf on the rods sometimes. I'm fine not having castors, didn't want them for this use. I wish it was taller with another shelf or two but I'll make do with it. I'd be careful about putting too much weight or large things on the top two shelves because it could tip over if you don't attach it to the wall, but that is true with most shelves. Mine is not attached to the wall and so far I have had no problems.As for the little hook, I didn't care about them and didn't think I'd use them until I set up the shelf in the utility room and then realized I could hang a fly swatter and my dryer "snake" on them, so now I'm glad it has the hooks.
