Review on Enhance Your Audio Experience with the Yamaha NS-C444 2-Way Center Channel Speaker in Black by Michael Glassburn

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent center speaker

I already have an NS-555 as my front speaker, so matching the audio with the NS-C444 was really the next logical step in building my home theater. Yes, the measurements listed on Revain are STILL incorrect after 2.5 years, but if you click on "See more technical details" the correct measurements are shown. As a home theater enthusiast looking to build/upgrade a system component by component, you will need to do your research on the manufacturer's website and other online resources. So how good is it? There are four factors that affect the sound you hear: media, AV receiver, speakers and environment: 1) Input signal (Seeing a stereo TV? or a DVD/Blue Ray disc with 5.1/7.1 audio in DTS -Format)). /DD/DTS-MA/Dolby TrueHD?You want TV broadcasts to sound as good as HD audio, and it's not the receiver or the speakers that's the fault.2) How well does your AV receiver decode and amplify the input signal? Are you using Dolby PLII/DTS Neo/THX for stereo playback? How good is the audio processing for these modes? You have a crappy receiver, you can't blame the media or speakers. 3) How well are your speakers - ALL - front left/right, center, surround left/right and subwoofer at reproducing the signal sent to them? 4) The most important factor is the environment/room set up for your home theater. If you have a DEDICATED home theater (in which case you probably don't need the NS-C444), you won't have the same background noise problem as you would in a living room/family room or basement home theater. If you have a dishwasher, washer/dryer, children playing or other outside noise in the background, it doesn't matter how good your home theater is or how expensive it is. This center channel does exactly what it's supposed to do for the price. It accurately reproduces all center channel inputs. So for my family's home theater this is the best value center channel.
