Note on batteries: It's worth buying real C batteries There are many brands that are not conscientious in the sense that they are really just AA batteries in a C container , and therefore don't last as long as the conscientious C's. The conscientious C's are a bit hard to come by. . However, I did purchase the SunLabz kit and it turned out to be great. They didn't last very long on the very first charge, but the charge has lasted a long time since. UPDATE: May 2017. AM reception suddenly disappeared. For benefit. No AM reception from any station. I live about a mile from the strongest station in Wisconsin, which can usually pick up at least a hundred miles away. This morning: NOTHING. I will never buy a Sangean again. I see the Panasonic RF-2400 getting very high marks from many reviewers. I'll try it. The AM reception wasn't that good anyway. Even being this close to that strong station, I had to manipulate the radio's positioning to eliminate interference, and reception of several strong Chicago AM stations 90 miles south, which I can pick up very well with an old Sony, was average until bad.
