We bought this when our kitten was only 4 months old. She is now 8 months old and still going strong. She likes to sit on it when she looks outside and it's the first thing she looks at in the morning after waking up. I mean, it can be a little messy (they all are), but it's easy to peel off the few pieces of cardboard that each come loose. I think with all the action there is. it's worth it and there's still a lot of life in it. Having 2 of these is also a bonus. Love seeing her on her whale looking out at the yard. would recommend
