I was a musician for a while. I prefer Shure headphones. So a little understanding of the 425s...if you're looking for "headphones" that sound like you're in a club or rocking out in your car, these aren't for you. If you're looking for a so-called "reference" sound like audiophile or monitoring sound, then this is for you. Because they're balanced across the spectrum, they're crisp and clear without one frequency range being heavier than the other. I chose 425 for several reasons. While the price is going to be high, I wanted at least 2 drivers for clarity. Like most musicians in this world I am not a rock star but an ordinary musician who regularly collaborates with church and local bands. I can't justify the price of "professional" IEMs. I've been very lucky with Shure, as I admit I'm not always very careful with my headphones. Being able to replace a cable or a specific headphone (with a broken trade-in) is great. The sound is ideal for stage monitoring. I use them with my personal music devices and set the equalizer accordingly. The noise cancellation is fantastic IF you have the right "olives" for your ear size/structure AND if they are properly inserted. This is VERY important, otherwise you will NOT hear any low frequencies. Finally. long cord. There's a reason for that. When connecting to a wired surveillance system, the extra length is sometimes critical. If you use it to listen to music on your phone while exercising, buy an accessory for that (see cables you can buy). Summary… they are great when used properly.
