I use this to change needles on my sewing machine and serger. This makes it easy to insert the needle flat side back, which is a must on both machines, and then hold it while I tighten the screw. On the serger, this takes away the worry of the needle falling into the machine when I take it out and put a new one in. Before I got this little thing, I had all sorts of issues with needle twists and slippage in my fingers on both machines. my sewing machine and serger. I did not attempt to thread the needle as both machines have working needle threaders.
