Review on Pacesetter 201096 Direct Catalytic Converter by Cameron Aleman

Revainrating 3 out of 5

I was skeptical at first when opening the box as it seemed like the manufacturer of this catalytic converter had to do the math.

Preserved. When I first opened the box I was skeptical because it seemed like the manufacturer of this catalytic converter should have taught a newbie to weld. And that's exactly what I got. When installed, the gasket did not fit on the top edge. I've only included photos with the old gasket for reference. The new seal is exactly the same size. I just didn't want to accidentally mess it up since the gasket manufacturer made them. In addition, this lip was not on the exhaust manifold. Considering the price is cheaper than the original catalytic converter, I figured I might have to get things working. So I shook everything I could off that dumb edge without scratching the flange but to no avail. O2 sensor port. You glue on a piece of plastic cap to protect the threads. Well, they welded a connector in there with this piece of plastic. Thus, half of this protective coating on the thread melted. And while we're in this area, let's get back to welding. At the bottom of the honeycomb material inside was a pile of sweat beads cast into a very important ceramic material. ALSO ALSO the article described has devices for attaching a standard heat shield. You will also notice that this converter has the cells mounted higher up in the assembly as opposed to the standard. I don't think it will make a huge difference, but I want you to know. To me, this is NOT a direct match catalyst. However, if you are in a dilemma with your wallet and are willing to work to make it fit and work properly, this is for you. I say good luck. These are the reasons for 1 star. In addition, it is a metal case with precious metals inside.

Pros
  • More efficient low-limit pipe design
Cons
  • No automatic
