Review on πŸ”§ Klein Tools 2005N: Wire Cutter, Stripper, Crimper with Shear Cutter - Ideal for 10-18 AWG Stranded Wire Stripping and 10-22 AWG Terminal Crimping by Rob Dixon

Need a break-in period

I ordered these to replace two tools. They seemed like a great upgrade at first, but in the last week or two I've found that they're not as ergonomic as I was hoping. I work with different vehicle systems, so I needed a quick tool. The rubber grips are a bit larger than I was hoping for and very abrasive. The scissors at the very end of the tool are not sharp at all. DOYLE crimping machines from the large Rock Candy Mountain Store have a more perfect cut. These Kleins crimp rather than cut the 14 AWG stranded wire I use in my systems. My biggest complaint is that the rivets are very tight. I sprayed a lot of lube around the mating area but nothing helps. In tight spaces under dashboards or under the hood, they often take up a bench while tools I was hoping to replace are shoved back in. However, the cleaning part of the tool is excellent. I've never had a problem with a perfect cut unless it was a cheap primary winding which is usually 14-16 AWG. The cutting edge next to the scrapers is also VERY sharp. However, with the scraped back of the tool and the above issues, it wasn't quite right for my use. Much better for bank work.

Cons
  • So so
