Processed. Cheap (compared to cheap) but otherwise a good basic set of tools.

Edit: Okay, I figured out where they cut corners. There's an annoying problem with the box, which is that the metal latch isn't secured in the box at all - meaning if you smack it or look at it from the wrong angle, it'll fall out. In the end I had to glue both together with super glue. It's a very thin, cheap metal that bends very easily. I'm taking off two stars because I really had to look for that damn latch - it fell out with no effort; and also because it takes almost no effort to make that part safer. Nice basic set of tools. Can't say much about durability as it lives under my workbench with tools. It has a small hole under the handle on the top shelf that tends to swallow dropped tools.
