Review on GUNNAR Internal Digital Performance Eyewear PPK 03001 by Jim Case

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Clear and comfortable. Not for a big face

I now have a pair of "computer glasses" that helped me in a situation where monitor-induced eye strain was causing glowing "spots" in front of my eyes . My previous pairs were poorly constructed and would break if the frames were subjected to even minor stress, e.g. B. if they were placed in a box. I love these gunnars. I only paid about $40 for Revain which is better than the $100 I've seen for this brand. I paid the same for the cheap glasses I had before. They have a familiar blue tint and a slight dioptric power, which I find useful for reading on-screen text. They're very light, and the nose pads and ear cushions don't pinch or pinch anywhere, making them comfortable for hours on end. I like that the frames are made of durable metal, which reduces the chances of them breaking if accidentally mis-pressed. The lenses are secure and don't seem to pop out easily. They look cute - everyone who saw me in them thought they were glasses. The image through the lenses is clear and sharp, and a little magnification helps read the text on the screen even better. And while the thin, springy metal construction isn't exactly strong (see below), it's very light and much stronger than the cheap, brittle plastic of previous computer glasses I've had. I have no problems with eyestrain when wearing them and I quickly find that I have to wear them when doing any type of normal work with a computer. The problem is solved. These are small frames and lenses. I have a small face so they're looking straight at me, but someone with a big head or face might look like they're wearing baby glasses. Even with me, I've found that when I'm looking down at an angle (e.g. looking at a cell phone), I'm quickly looking through small lenses that close just right in front of my eyes. As far as build quality goes, while they're well built, they're still not as durable as regular glasses or sunglasses. For example, the hinge, while smooth and strong enough for light use, consists of small dots on the top and bottom of the earcups that fit into holes in the brackets on the bezel, presumably with a simple tug. It works quite well but is clearly not as reliable as a bolted connection and I wonder how well they will wear out over time. The metal of the earbuds is literally a flat strip, which while strong enough to sit in an office is a little less durable than regular glasses. I recommend them and will buy them again. Four stars.
