When I have severe, debilitating arthritis, I wear out the heating pads. I found this one better than others I've used. There are 5 heating levels instead of the usual 3, as well as a wider operating time range - 30/60/90/120 minutes. Most I've used only give two, 15/30 at best. The case is soft and the device is thin but subtly padded and snaps in place. It doesn't move and you don't feel like you're leaning on a bunch of wires. The only one I have is probably a matter of personal preference. The control wires go in and out at the same end (bottom) and that makes it a bit awkward for me (at least for me). Another thing might be the on/off switch moving back and forth. If the device is allowed to turn itself off, you must flip the switch to the "off" position and then flip it back to the "on" position. I just feel like a simple up/down button would be more convenient. None of these things are really a "problem" and given the positives, I certainly don't think it's worth downgrading. I'll probably buy one or more of these again while they're available. Too often I've bought and enjoyed things that, by the time it came time to replace them, were no longer available - no longer carried around or "improved".
