MID: Mitsubishi Chemical Corp.

The manufacturer string returned by ImgBurn for these discs is Mitsubishi Chemical Corp. This means that these rims were made by Mitsubishi and not by CMC. Mitsubishi is one of the best optical media manufacturers; CMC is one of the worst. If you purchase CD-Rs other than Verbatim's DataLifePlus, they are manufactured by CMC. Therefore, all Verbatim CD-Rs purchased from a physical store are SMS. Writable CD-Rs and DVDs other than DataLifePlus should always be avoided. All Life Series DVD-Rs are CMCs. Recordable CMC DVDs don't record about 50% of the time. The recorded 50% are usually not recognized as playable discs by DVD players that can read this particular type of recordable DVD. CMC used to release decent DVD+Rs, but the quality has deteriorated in recent years. CMCs are too unreliable to trust the quality. I recorded 2 of these on my Pioneer Blu-ray recorder and they recorded and reviewed well. My PS3 had no problems playing these CDs either. I can't judge the quality of the inkjet finish as I don't have a printer to use it with. But I'm keeping these CDs for future reference if I ever buy one. You can also write on the surface with a secure CD marker to mark it as well.

Pros
  • Limited lifetime manufacturer warranty.
Cons
  • Slightly dented
