The assembly and installation instructions that came with this gate are the best I've seen on any product! I'm not particularly accommodating and was afraid I would have to find help to assemble and install the gate. But even though I'm 68 years old, it really wasn't that hard. Each step is clear and useful details are highlighted in the inserts. All you need is a drill (or maybe just a Phillips screwdriver if you're stronger than me), a pencil to mark the mounting points, and a little patience. Once installed, the gate is very secure and the passage door can be conveniently operated with one hand. The only thing I would like to do differently is the cat gate insert. It opens easily, but doesn't swing back close to the main gate and has no way to lock it in the open position. As I will never use it closed I tried to see if the small door could be removed. It is impossible. So I ended up using a bungee cord to hold it open. (And cover the bungee with aluminum foil so my tough dog can't work on it!). The protruding door isn't perfect, but given the overall quality, it's not enough to deduct a star for it. I would recommend this product.
