The second version of the Peak Design Everyday Backpack is not a big improvement over the first version. If you have the first version I would recommend sticking with it as this version is just as good as the latest one and you can save some money as they are currently on sale/closeout if you are in the Peak Design market. Backpack but on a budget. The layout has remained the same in the latest version, and the comfort issue related to the straps has improved slightly. I wouldn't recommend taking this backpack on long hikes, but it's good for general everyday use; This backpack was developed for this. I personally use this backpack for work and general daytime photography. It works well whether you're wearing photo gear or not. When I need to carry my camera around, I know that this backpack will keep it safe and access it fairly quickly with the side zips or mag latch on the top. This could be a good bag for street photography. SUITABILITY / CAPACITY: The backpack can be used for a variety of purposes including general use. I bought the 30 liter version and I have more than enough space for all my everyday essentials (keys, wallet, phone, laptop, etc.). I usually carry my MacBook Pro and iPad with me every day - these devices fit nicely in the compartment on the back of the backpack. I kept my lunch and an extra sweater in the main compartment in case I needed it during the day. On the days that I go out for photoshoots, I can take a mirrorless camera, 2-3 lenses and a drone along with my MacBook Pro. The top of the main compartment can be expanded with a Mag Latch mechanism when you need more space and can accommodate other bulky items like a jacket. COMFORT/OTHER BRAND RECOMMENDATIONS: The straps on this bag aren't the best I've seen. If you are looking for ultimate comfort I would recommend checking out the Osprey or The North Face. Keep in mind that these other bags will have different organizational systems; You may need to purchase a separate camera cube to keep your camera gear safe. LowePro is also another good brand to check out if you intend to carry a lot of camera gear around for an extended period of time. There is a detachable chest strap that can be used for weight distribution. The hip belt must be purchased separately. That brings me to the next point. ORGANIZATION: In my view, this bag is the king of organization. You can divide the main compartment with removable shelves, or remove all shelves for a large open space for books or papers. Each shelf folds up or down to help you organize your items. This will also prevent your camera from colliding with other devices you are carrying in your backpack. There are pockets on the back of the laptop and tablet compartment to keep your devices separate. The tablet case has a magnet that keeps the case closed. There is a small compartment at the top of the laptop/tablet compartment that can be used to store sunglasses or other small items such as Air Pods. GENERAL DESIGN/APPEARANCE: The backpack has a very sleek look and follows a minimalist design with a clean front look. I like that the bags are not stacked on top of each other. Other bags give you an administration compartment for small items, but filling that compartment usually results in it encroaching on your main compartment and reducing usable space. This bag has a large open space that you can arrange according to your needs without worrying about bags stacked on top of each other. The straps have a magnet that keeps them attached to the back when not in use. I bought the black version and it looks really good! I've gotten a few compliments from people on my commute; The first question that seems to arise is: Who makes this bag (because the logo is difficult to see)? Peak Design does a good job of incorporating their brand into the bag without making it obnoxious in the sense that they try to turn you into a walking billboard. DURABILITY: This backpack has great durability. As soon as I opened the package I knew that this backpack would last a long time. The fabric used on the outside is very thick and appears to be abrasion resistant. The zippers work very smoothly and are even taped to keep water out when you're in a little rain. I would buy a raincoat for more water resistance if you are in an area that gets a lot of showers. The mag latch mechanism for top access to the bag is pretty cool as you can open the bag with one hand. Time will tell, I'll update this review if I find any durability issues in the future - I plan on using this backpack for a while. BOTTOM INFO: This backpack doesn't come cheap and is considered an investment by many. If you value organization and want a well-designed backpack, this bag delivers on both. At $289 I would say it's worth it because if this product fails you get a Peak Design lifetime warranty and you get a product that was designed with quality in mind. This backpack is good for everyday use and I would recommend it if your budget allows. If you can't justify spending $300 on a backpack, I would look at other well-known brands that have been in business longer than Peak Design. They produce bags that are just as user-friendly and are able to offer them at a lower price due to volume and production costs. The type of backpack a person needs always depends on what they use it for and what their budget is. Of course, this isn't a type that fits all situations, so do your research before you decide to pull the trigger! Just because a backpack is expensive doesn't mean it's perfect for everyone. I hope this review has helped you in your search for a good backpack. Much luck!
