Just got this for my first yearr yesterday! I taught him responsibility and the importance of completing daily chores so we can take care of our own business. I especially like the layout of this work scheme because it has a reward system. I don't necessarily believe in chore allowances because I think it's important to understand that taking care of yourself and your place of residence is a life skill that you don't get paid to do as an adult. We sat down, decided on the responsibilities and rewards together, and discussed each of them in detail. We've talked about how we can reward ourselves along the way for taking care of the things we're privileged to do. In fact, he was very excited and told me that he was looking forward to helping me around the house. Of course, it was a great way to start a conversation about money, saving, and spending. It's amazing how much kids pick up. Little did I know he was so willing to take charge and honestly thought it was going to be a battle of wills at first. It was a great way to connect with him personally and we will continue as we do chores together and celebrate our continued successes together. I would love it if they made it left handed. I know writing on the right page seems counterintuitive, but my son is left-handed, so every time he gives a star after chores, he accidentally erases the writing. I know it seems trivial, but the sense of accomplishment he gets from completing a star dwindles a bit when his hand accidentally obliterates other stars and writes down what was done. left problems.
