Just ordered a flash. 6th Ave speed was great, got it in four days with their free shipping. The flash seems cheaper than expected for the price. There was a small diffuser in the kit, not just a retractable piece of plastic, which I wasn't expecting. Much less power than I expected. But doable. The biggest problem most people will have is when the flash bounces off the wall or ceiling it loses a stop or more light. However, increasing the slider one notch behind the flash pulls out enough light, except in some cases I also had to increase the in-camera flash compensation which gave me two notches higher, but the flash seems to have enough light to make it work. I use it on a Canon XT and it works well with a cable from the shoe too. closer and it will be over. Overall this seems like a good buy for the price. I will still look for a Canon 430ex if I can but for now it looks like it will work as long as the quality is maintained. UPDATE: After a few uses, the flash started measuring down about two stops. I had to send it back to 6ave while the flash stopped working as expected, the people at 6ave did a great job getting the flash back and within a few days the money was in my account. In the meantime I have ordered a Canon 430exii, unfortunately 6ave does not sell it, otherwise I would have ordered there.
