If you've ever had a cat get frustrated with her litter box, you'll understand why this is such a delight. I have a cat who likes to get socks out of my drawer and put them in her litter box. (Yes, it's weird.) It eliminates odors and stains so I don't have to keep changing my socks. This doesn't work particularly well for hand wash or old stains, but it's okay if you catch the problem early enough. I've washed every color with it and it hasn't faded yet which is better than most supplements.
