We bought this for my 5 year old daughter for Christmas along with the purple Crazy Fort. Pink and purple are her favorite colors. On Christmas Day we built a house with one of these as shown in the instructions. It wasn't very difficult, but you really need to pay attention to how the sticks are used to make building easier. The instructions say that the arrows should always point up, which is very important as everything is lined up correctly. The instructions do not state that the sticks inserted into the horizontal hole must also line up with one of the arrows, this ensures the corner holes are in place. You can always spin the ball, but I prefer to get it right the first time. Getting the sticks into some holes can be a little tricky and this is where the rotation helps when inserting the stick. The constructed structures are not strong enough to climb on, but she is very careful with her belongings to avoid tearing them. Sturdy enough to put a sheet or light blanket on top to build a fort or tent as kids their age love to move in and out of what we build. My daughter can't build by herself but she really enjoyed making an umbrella, a propeller and many other little things that stimulate her imagination. When she wants to build a bigger structure, she asks me for help and then she helps assemble the parts while learning. a fort, another time a house, another time a castle. Imagination is the best toy a child can have and it helps develop their imagination.
