Great DIVX/AVI Player

I bought this as a gift and since it doesn't have any reviews yet I thought my review would help those who are considering buying this player. First things first: 1) I first bought it to have a portable DIVX or AVI player. I looked at all the other turntables and they either cost an arm or a leg or were too big. Let me just say that it plays AVI/DIVX files without any problem. I've watched many AVI files with no problems and since this device handles DVD and AVI files with no problems, I give it 5 stars! 2) The screen on this small 7 inch screen is amazing. Very clear and sharp. I bought another COBY tablet player a year ago but it broke after about a year of use and the picture quality wasn't very good. This thing is MUCH better than that. 3) Battery life is pretty good. So far it has been running without any problems for over 2 hours without interruption. 4) The sound is great, and even if you connect this thing to your TV with the cables that came with it, the sound goes through the TV just fine. Now the negative. 1) The remote control on this thing sucks! They need to be very close to the player and pointed directly at them to work properly. This is the same remote they pack with other Coby players, a real piece of junk. 2) The thing is almost entirely made of plastic! The picture looks great and I thought I'd buy a DVD player with a metal case (in the photo it looks like a matte black metal case), but be careful, the thing looks cheap! The screen rotates so it folds into a tablet style player and it's great for that, very compact but the screen also wobbles a bit (because it rotates) and the latch to hold it down Keeping the screen closed really is a piece of junk. If I were just rating this feature I would have to give it a 2. I'm afraid it will fall apart if I handle it too roughly. I just can't get over how cheap this thing seems. I got a very high score despite the build quality. Well that's because it does what I bought it for, so well. If you are looking for a DIVX/AVI player that can easily work with these files and don't want to spend a lot of money, get this player. Just think of the build quality. The build quality seems very crappy, but I've only owned it for a few days. I'll try to remember to update my review in a few months to let you know if this thing holds up. (If I can figure out how to update my review). If you're wondering whether you would recommend this item to you, I would say yes, but only for the reasons listed above. Great little Divx player! I hope this helps all potential buyers.
