I haven't touched a Rubik's Cube since high school, but now I wanted more break from staring at my phone all day Hobbies that got me interested before smartphones 24 hours were in the hands of the people a day, 7 days a week. Well, I've never been an experienced Rubik's Cube solver as I've played around with it for hours and I'm not interested in the speed cube at all. I just like enjoying the task, not how quickly I can complete it. Personally, when I first took this cube out of the box, I felt that it was a bit smaller than I expected. I've had the original branded Rubik's Cube with stickers, a cheap $99 cent store without stickers, and a branded metal Rubik's Cube with stickers. The 99 Cent was my first dice and I never touched it again once I assembled it because it was very difficult to turn. Most of the time I used the original Rubik's Cube and I think it's a bit bigger than this new cube, but I can't say for sure as I lost it somewhere. This new cube spins much smoother than my old cubes and I was pleasantly surprised. Now many critics have complained about how difficult it is to distinguish green/blue, orange/pink and white/yellow in this cube as they are translucent allowing adjacent sides to blend into the face. That's right. It's getting harder and harder to distinguish colors in low light, but in bright light or sunlight I can tell which color is which fairly easily. This cube is nowhere as distracting as the metal Rubik's Cube I had, in which all the colors were different shades of gray, and I spent far more time matching the colors than building the cube itself. I think it will take some time to get used to the slight transparency of this particular cube, but it's by no means difficult as they are actually different colors, not different shades of the same color. But of course, if you're looking for a speed cube, you should get an opaque cube. This type of dice is mainly valued for its aesthetics and its difference from normal colors. Personally, I appreciated the slight increase in complexity due to the colors being a little hard to discern. Although the cube spins smoothly with every spin, I don't think it's possible to solve it with one hand. There is enough resistance in this cube that forces me to use two hands to turn the sides of the cube. All mids are equipped with removable covers that allow you to change the torque and tightness of the cube's internal mechanisms so you can customize it to your liking. This is a feature I've never had in any of my cubes before and I really like the idea. Also, you can easily create an unsolvable cube by swapping out a few overlays if you want to drive someone crazy. Overall I enjoyed playing with this cube and it brought back fond memories of my school days, although it took me a long time. several hours to solve it for the first time since I haven't done this in many many long years.
