Inkblots work well on bedding

I love the cute lettering on the pillowcases. However, the black imprint only smeared on the pillowcase after lying on it for two days. I've washed it in the washing machine and it's still smeared and looks awful. I even took out the washer and hand trimmed the edges where it turned white and it's looking pretty bad. I was surprised it wasn't clear at all and can't imagine how they could be used if the ink smears. Are they for beauty only, not for the head?
