Pixel 2 + Xbox One S controller = works

Using a Pixel 2 and Xbox One S controller works as expected. The volume buttons are located right where the clip attaches to the phone. I took a dremel tool and made a very small channel (only maybe 2mm wide x 1mm deep) in the top clamp that isn't very thick but has enough plastic to make a channel without worrying about it cause the clip to break or be cut through. After the channel was cut, I didn't have any more volume issues when the phone was stuck. The clamp is pretty strong, I reduced the pressure sensitivity to activate Google Assistant and it still works sometimes when you put the phone in. I don't care, I'd rather have a strong grip. The device opens wide enough that there is just over 90 degrees from the front of the screen to the front of the controller. It does not open 180 degrees/flat. It's a perfectly comfortable angle to play in, I could play for hours without discomfort, but when you're playing in a dark room you're right in front of the controller and the Xbox control button is lit by an LED. I never noticed how bright it was, but the button got so close to the screen that it was annoying; I might put rubber or something across the gap to cover the button. The device is clearly built specifically for the Xbox One S controller; The cutouts all line up perfectly with the controller, and there's a small protrusion in the controller that fits snugly with a small spike in the device, presumably to keep it from moving. It all fits well and feels solid. While it's easy to remove the device, the device doesn't seem designed to be turned on and off frequently. That's basically it, I'm completely satisfied with this device, it's totally superior to buying a whole other bluetooth controller for my phone. .I tested the One S Controller with the Steam Link app and GTA III for Android and it worked flawlessly with both. Strangely, connecting an old wired Xbox 360 controller via a USB adapter didn't work as well. I can confirm that the One S analog sticks 'read' correctly, as do the analog triggers; by that I mean (for example) in GTA V if you push the analog left stick all the way left, the steering wheel in the car goes all the left; Less pressure results in less wheel rotation. Likewise, a full pull on the right trigger knocks him to the ground, while a light pull allows the machine to move more slowly.

Pros
  • great product
Cons
  • Something different
