To the constant disappointment of consumers, electronics manufacturers cannot standardize their component connection standards. This is an example. Certain generations of Dell and InFocus video projectors use a modified DVI connector called "M1" that is not interchangeable with standard DVI cables. Apparently the reason for the change was the addition of a USB connection through the same connector. But for those like me who just need to connect their Blu-ray player (with HDMI output) to their projector with an M1 connector for high definition, this adapter is one piece of a two-piece puzzle (the other and an HDMI to -HDMI cable) appropriate length). One thing I found is that the Blu-Ray player (Sony model) didn't get any auto-sensing HDMI cable projector information through this adapter. It is likely that the auto-detect standard had not been developed at the time the projector was manufactured. So it was necessary to manually select 1080i (the highest standard this project can support) in the Blu-Ray player settings to get a usable picture. But once this adjustment was made, everything went fine.
