Review on πŸ”ͺ Tonic Studios Guillotine Maxi Trimmer 12", Versatile Color Options for Personalized Trimming Experiences by Angela Rodriguez

Revainrating 2 out of 5

No accuracy, top guide isn't even straight, terrible purchase and bad experience

Method of buying a reliable trimmer. At this point, I'm willing to pay $100 for a rugged, reliable, accurate, trustworthy, and durable trimmer. But no more than $60 after tax for an unreliable and poorly calibrated item. Why is the outermost guide not level at the top? What is a raised calibrated edge if it cannot be used as a guide? Why does the blade move the paper so easily when the plastic plates holding it in place actually work as intended? I have a very strong grip so it's definitely not because of holding her. I attempted to return the product for a replacement although I had concerns as the replacement would likely be from the same production. Yes, I didn't even have to take the replacement trimmer completely out of the box to see that (1) the top edge guide to the end near the blade has the same curvature and isn't straight (2) this article was clearly a review - the Cardboard was slightly dented and showed fingerprints on the upper parts of the trimmer, as well as small scratches and traces of dirt on the plastic housing. Seriously, Revane? In the past year I have received things that are clearly not new when paying for a new item. I bet, Revain still saves money, even if only a small percentage of shoppers realize the product isn't new and return it immediately. Buyer beware. Yes, and one more thing - this thing is incredibly difficult to lift off the surface if you want to remove it after each use (you'll probably need it, considering the amount of space it takes up). The sides reach to the support surface, and there isn't even a notch from the top (the top is a nonsensical holder for paperclips, if there were the same notch from the bottom it would become a safe) and a handy handle). So if you're just looking for a place to pick up your trimmer, pick it up and put it away. You'll likely grab it by the plastic arm - right where the blade is. I have not seen that other reviewers have commented on this, so maybe not everyone does and people may not be at risk. However, if you tend to pack things up without thinking and planning every time, please be careful not to grab the object with the blade. And maybe that's what you're thinking when considering this trimmer. So all in all a bad trimmer and a bad experience buying a supposedly 'new' item from Revain. 2 stars is too generous for the whole experience. I should have read the other bad reviews and not bought this one. I recommend to anyone planning to use a guillotine trimmer extensively - and I'm sure they do when looking at $50+ products - that Spend a little more and buy something really reliable. Otherwise you end up with a bad product and a lot of frustration and you end up wasting all the money you paid for a bad trimmer. I still haven't figured out what the perfect 12" x 12" trimmer is, but I'll keep looking. In the meantime, I'll keep using my old, slightly smaller, generic, branded trimmer (which I have a new, deeper understanding of) after this horrific experience.
