Review on πŸ’» Dell UltraSharp U3223QE 31.5" 4K Monitor with Height Adjustment and 75Hz Refresh Rate, 3840x2160p by Jack King

Good but not great for Mac

I've had an LG UltraFine 5K for years, so this is my main point of reference. I also recently tried out the new Apple Studio Monitor. This one wins in terms of sheer quality but is overpriced for what it offers. Dell I had to fiddle with the settings to make it stop looking awful. Text readability in particular is my biggest concern as I am a software developer and this will be my main monitor for looking at code throughout the day. Dell is fine as long as you set it to a notch on the "more space" scale in Apple's simplified switcher. I was expecting native Dell to be optimal, so that was weird. I also use it vertically. One note, then: the 32-inch vertical is almost too tall. I've noticed that my throat crackles a bit when I look up (I have it in the middle in front of my eyes). In any case, despite the excitement, the quality isn't that. I shouldn't have expected that either, given the difference in pixel density, but thought I'd see if it was good enough. In my opinion not really. But I'm picky. The brightness was almost good enough. Slightly less bright than UltraFine, but ok in my room with lots of windows. I wish there were more retina monitors. I started looking mainly because I noticed some ghosting with my UltraFines and I really don't want to buy this "old" technology again, but I also don't want to spend $1700 for the same thing in terms of screen. don't hold it.
