So far I don't like the suction cups, one didn't work as it kept tipping over so couldn't stick them all. I finally found that if I applied very little pressure to fasten it, it wouldn't tip over. But I know my turtles will end up messing with it and end up reversing it. The real problem is the thermometer, it's annoying. This is about 2 or 3 degrees above normal and doesn't register accurately at all. When I check the water temperature with my handheld laser thermometer, I get very accurate readings that fluctuate and drop throughout the night, and then my regular adjustable heater (which is half the price) turns on and off until the water comes on again 78 stands for .°, plus or minus one degree, but no more. This heater only fluctuates between 79 and 80, although the water temperature is actually 76°. I wonder how cold the water has to get before it actually works! I think this problem would be solved if the heater thermometer was adjustable. Basically I would not recommend this heater, there are many tubular heaters with digital LED temperature display that are ADJUSTABLE and also have plastic protective covers. An adjustable thermostat doesn't pose a problem for small temperature fluctuations because you can easily set it to compensate for incorrect readings.
