Review on 🐠 Optimized Marineland Aquarium LED Strip Light with White and Blue LEDs by Heather Johnson

Use MagClips instead of suction cups

I bought this mount to use in the refugium area of my swamp where I can grow macroalgae. My acrylic palette has an edge around the edges. I thought this product might stick but the lip was too thick. It's actually designed to clip thin black straps around the top of the tank. In any case, if the clamp does not work, you will get suction cups. POOH! What year are we in? In any case, since I wanted my flashlight to be above the water instead of under the water and pointing down toward the macro algae, I used a much better option. Magnetic suction cups Zoo Med MagClip. These things work great with this lamp, heater or any other round aquarium gadget that uses suction cups that always dry up and fall off. That's the exact name here on Revain, so just search for it. You will need to buy 2 packs because although they come with different size clips they only come with 1 of each size and 1 magnet and you will need at least 2 for this light. The downside is that they are a bit pricey at $9 a pack and you need 2. But it's worth it if you want to use this light. The round bulb simply slides out of the holder so you can clip the MagClips straight in. on a long tube that houses the LEDs and you can hold the light just below the rim of your sump or tank. Just make sure you attach MagClips to the very ends of the glass tube so you don't block the light. Not to mention that using MagClips without a big light cuts the size of the device in half. Did I mention that this light is very bright?!

Pros
  • Pretty impressive
Cons
  • Mostly fine, but...
