After using the plug in cooler for a year I decided it was the year to make the switch and get a proper compressor fridge style cooler to buy. Not wanting to spend a thousand dollars or more my search led me down this path and after seeing a review from a couple who travel on wheels over a larger capacity model I ordered a 40 liter model. It will work like a fridge on board my sailboat. It looks very solid and has very strong springs for the handles and a door lock. I don't think I'll accidentally open the lid by hitting it. It cools down pretty quickly as advertised. I went from 84 degrees to 40 degrees in about half an hour, which is good enough for what I need. There also seems to be plenty of space, although I agree that the 40-litre capacity isn't exactly accurate in terms of usable storage space. I got this one because it wasn't that big and I need more water bottles and easy storage of meat for sandwiches and the like, but for regular use it might be better to have a bigger one. In fact, when you compare it to the amount of space in my 27.5L Koolatron cooler, it feels about the same. Pros: * Cools down fairly quickly * Handles feel very sturdy and can be left on to save space * Household adapter included - good value for money * 12 volt cord is about 10 feet long, good range * Includes a voltage chart to get you started to inform about performance save settings. Cons: * A little heavy when empty, but it has a supercharger. However, moving it when full is difficult * The rubber feet on the bottom may mark some surfaces * The screws have no threaded inserts in the body, they just screw directly into the plastic * The instruction manual is pretty thin and simple (although there actually is Not). much more in need of explanation)* The temperature display is difficult to read in direct light* The display also does not switch off. GENERAL. Whenever the device is connected to the network, the display is on, even if it is in standby mode. And while it's hard to read in direct light, the LEDs are quite bright, especially in dark rooms. Socket 12v. I've seen reviews of these and others mentioning the E1 low voltage error. I used a 12v 10amp universal output adapter in my house which cleared the error. I restarted the device and put it into battery saver mode to set it up and everything is fine with that. In general, it is difficult to overestimate the value of this device. It has some small imperfections but nothing to worry me about the surgery. Of course, it's new and obviously cheaper than branded devices, so time will tell. It's a basic no-frills device, but if you don't need it then it's certainly good value at half the price of many or less. I wish I had a case for him, but I'll see how he does without it and then go for it. FOLLOW UP EDITS: Just a follow up, I installed this on my sailboat with a 170 watt solar panel. and a 12 volt battery rated at over 400 amp hours and ran it 24/7 for the last three months of the season before taking it off work. It worked flawlessly the whole time, no excessive heat, no noise creeping up, no issues at all. It very rarely dropped low voltage when I had a few battery draining things like inverters and the like, but that was to be expected. And it turns on automatically as soon as other loads are turned off. This isn't a device issue, it's a home bank setup I have. In terms of use it's rock solid and never had a problem with cold water waiting for me when I arrived.
