I got these because I figured they sounded pretty good, and they looked more versatile than most of the other coil burners out there. I just got them in yesterday and used them for the first time today. I too was worried when the mesh appeared to be plastic, but I put a coil in each and lit them up.Immediately I knew I had made a good choice. The product parts were solid, the mesh darkened and blackened, but I saw no sign of melting as other reviewers experienced. I hung one of the burners up off of a metal sign and the other I laid down on a table. Both burners continued to let off a constant stream of smoke from the coils, so the airflow was good no matter how they were used, and the ashes from the coils stayed contained until I opened the burners up and was ready to safely dispose of the ashes.All in all I could not be happier and I intend to buy more of these burners to really give myself great coverage when I'm spending large amount of time outdoors this summer and fall.
