One of my son's cats had a health issue (amongst other issues) that quickly spiraled out of control, resulting in part of his bedroom, Apt. The carpet is so stained we didn't think we could help. After several days of researching online, I finally settled on SUN and its reviews. SUN seemed different to other products I've looked at and the reviews were so consistently positive I felt like there might be hope and I'm so glad we gave it a try! We really needed a miracle, and SUN was close. The smell of urine was so overwhelming that it was impossible to be in the apartment without tearing eyes and constant sneezing. Here's what we tried. We hired a professional carpet cleaner to do everything without knowing what to expect. Carpet cleaners have made a difference, but not enough. Then we started the online research. The first method we tried was soaking them in a mixture of liquid dish soap, hydrogen peroxide, and spices, then sprinkling them with baking soda. It seemed to help, but again not enough. In hindsight, I don't think we were able to infiltrate a fairly large area of the spot deep enough. This would require multiple uses - multiple boxes of baking soda, etc. So back to searching the web. Finally I found SUN. The fact that it was polymer based seemed like a different method of exposure than other products we had tried or read about. These stains were ingrained, several months old, and still smelling so bad it was uncomfortable to be in the bedroom. In other rooms of the apartment one still smells of urine. The area of the spot was approximately 3x6, including the perimeter. We used three bottles mixed with the maximum recommended concentration on the stain area itself and one bottle with a less concentrated mixture around the perimeter. As other reviewers have said, it worked quickly. The odor disappeared almost immediately after saturation. As it dries it seems to get even better. More than a week has passed since the SUN carpet treatment, there is no longer a smell of urine in other rooms of the apartment and the bedroom is used comfortably as a bedroom again. If it's warm in the bedroom, or if you actually do a *smell test* on a spot in the bedroom, you can smell the scent. I've just ordered two more bottles and plan to return to the area with regular strength mixes. If they do any more magic I'll update. We might as well leave it as is and be happy but we thought the first treatment was so effective why not see if we can eliminate the smell completely.
