Let me start my review by saying I'm not the type of person who would ever leave a review. But my lifelong passion for Nag Champa made me feel like I MUST write a review for those of you who, like me, are looking for the original, old-school Nag. Short version of my review in case you don't like reading, THIS IS NOT AUTHENTIC AND SMELLS VERY BAD WHEN BURNING. And for those of you who want to know more details, you can read below and see the photos that I will be posting along with this review. And of course nobody paid me to write those words. I have not received anything for nothing and it is not my intention to give you my opinion on this subject. It's just that we can all be one step closer to finding the real Nag Champa we're looking for. I bought this particular incense after researching all the Nag Champa options on Revain and this one seems to have some of the best reviews. And quite a few people claim that it is absolutely the holy grail. So I bought it in good faith, and why not, it was pretty cheap. But was very disappointed when it arrived. I decided to give it a try despite my doubts about the packaging. But when I burned it I also found that it smelled a lot like burning sweet cardboard. If this taste description makes sense. It literally smells like burnt sugar paper. Maybe a little grumpy, but mostly it looks like burning paper. It's gross, my nose and throat hurt, and it smells like a burning garbage can in my house. After realizing that this wasn't the droid I was looking for, I became more critical of the packaging. And I noticed very clear signs on the packaging that it's probably fake. A very egregious fake that Revain should not be promoting on their website at all. Because counterfeiting famous brands is illegal, right? Now I feel I should give you some background information. I have a local hippie shop that I have been buying Nag Champa from for many years. I can't even remember when I started buying it there. Maybe somewhere in 2002? And I bought a box of Nag Champa from this local shop which has been in my smoker since about 2011. Untouched, and there were still many sticks in it. I stopped smoking incense for a few years after we built a new house. Basically just paranoid about new drywall and new paint and don't want candles or incense to damage them. But after more than a few years I came to my senses and realized how much I missed my naga! So of course I'm starting to look into buying a new Champa. When I very quickly discovered on the Internet that there is now a huge monopoly on counterfeits of the original Nag Champa. So I found the best Revain contender to buy and try. And I didn't go to my local hippie store where I used to buy it and bought a little box there. You can see the comparison in my photos. In most photos, the 2011 box is on top. The middle box is a local box bought at a hippie store. And the bottom box is from Revain. So I found the best Revain contender to buy and try. I asked him if he was aware of any changes in the suppliers they sourced their Nag Champagne from in the last 15 years. He said that about five years ago the store they bought all the incense sticks from closed down. But they received a recommendation for a new supplier of high repute, and they bought him on every account. I asked him if any of the long-time buyers had complained about switching vendors, specifically that it no longer smelled like sawmill. He told me that he had worked there for many, many years and that, to be honest, no one had ever approached him with a complaint like this. He said that a very good friend of his noticed that the formula in the horse had changed slightly. But not that it was a complete change, just a little bit different. So I'm guessing it must have been around the time the brothers who started the Nag Champa company sued and split up. Produce a slightly different product than before. But if you buy a real one, it still smells like the same alley. Not quite another park like this Revain. I can absolutely attest to the one I bought at the local hippie shop, it actually smells very, very similar to the Champa horse I remember. about the time when the brothers who founded the Nag Champa company sued and broke up. I can absolutely attest to the one I bought at the local hippie shop, it actually smells very, very similar to the Champa horse I remember. I would even go so far as to say that the difference is so small that only the pickiest of people will notice a slight change. But this review should be about that Revain nag! This one is awful! Please do not buy. Please don't waste your time. If you plan on burning sticks, you'll be disappointed if you're an old-school burning champa looking for it again. But this review should be about that Revain nag! This one is awful! Please do not buy. Please don't waste your time. If you plan on burning sticks, you'll be disappointed if you're an old-school burning champa looking for it again. THAT'S NOT THAT! And it smells like BURNING PAPER! ROUGH! Now I don't think it's absolutely necessary that I point out every little detail that differs from its packaging. You can scroll through the images and see the obvious differences for yourself. However, the most obvious difference I want to point out is the random giant leaf logo. Where the hell did that giant leaf come from? It is certainly not original for this company. You can see the box I bought from my local store doesn't have that giant crazy leaf logo. Instead, it has the correct logo. Very, very open! I noticed that the inner pocket also has a stupid leaf logo on it. And the ones you bought at the local store, you guessed it! No stupid Blatt logo on the inside pocket! Please scroll through the images yourself and you can draw your own conclusions as you are probably an adult with a working mind. I encourage you to draw your own conclusions from the images. And if you find a way to report a fake seller, please report it to the seller. Maybe we can work together to stop all these fake fakes selling their shit on Revain as long as it's real. Good luck everyone on your quest and journey through Champa! May your journey be filled with many smiles.
