I am a research addict and have spent hours reading reviews of many epilators on Revain as I have never used any of them (or wax) before. I finally settled on this one because it can be used wired or wireless and I couldn't decide if I needed the performance of a wired connection or the convenience of being able to take it anywhere. First, many of the reviews scared me to death because of the pain and ingrown hairs, so I actually put the purchase on hold while I was debating if I really wanted this type of torture device. I have a bikini vacation coming up so I finally took the plunge and hit the order button. My first experience wasn't as great as some reviewers say. About 30 minutes before my bikini line started, I took some ibuprofen and a bottle of wine. I cleaned, dried thoroughly and then dusted lightly with baby powder. The sensation was more like a tingling vibration. I didn't think it was bad and the first time I did a bikini line and legs because it didn't hurt that much. Keeping the skin as far to the right as possible, move slowly, making sure the device is oriented correctly (I'm left-handed, so the outline of the shape for my right hand made me grab it backwards) and hold it at a 90 degree angle. Key. My skin was quite red the first time. After that, I applied some Tend Skin, which many reviewers recommended for follow-up care, then applied the triple antibiotic ointment and went to bed. The next morning I exfoliated with exfoliating gloves and applied more Tend Skin. The next day (i.e. the second morning after epilation) I woke up without redness and with smooth skin. I then applied Tend Skin twice a day and exfoliated every morning. I had 3 small ingrown hairs on my legs and just applied an extra coat of Tend Skin and then a coat of antibiotic ointment. never mind I wish I had bought this epilator sooner!
