When applied to my boots it penetrated right into the leather giving them a nice dark look and definitely made the skin softer and smoother. A friend mentioned that they look like new and I have to agree. I was torn between foot oil and mink paste, so I bought both Fiebing products and applied them to two different pairs. Also apply both products by hand without gloves, the body and rubbing will help them be absorbed. Mink oil, which you had to heat for it to soak in, wasn't as easy as neat. You can also use less foot oil to get the results you want. If you're torn between the two, choose Neatsfoot. Apparently I haven't tried it yet, a lot of people love on top of it because it works very well and lasts quite a long time. So if you need two of the best softening and waterproofing oils/pastes for your boots, choose one.
