Review on Umbra Flapper Coat Rack: Stylish Entryway Organizer for Clothing, Umbrellas, and Hats in Grey by Sandy Taylor

Low bar of craftsmanship

First they sent me a wrong color hanger which I sent back and then ordered a replacement. To my surprise, the replacement arrived in product packaging (like the packaging you would buy it in at a store, for example) with a label attached. Since the product packaging was not soft when opened, the wooden racks were naturally dented. So I sent this second post back and ordered a third. The third was the right color and (finally!) undamaged. After installing the third one I found that the formal design qualities of this hanger are good (looks good!) but on closer inspection the finish leaves something to be desired. One of the wooden posts differs significantly in color from the other two. The two posts are also off center when bolted together. The natural texture of wood is pretty ugly. This is not the smooth texture of oak, but the striped, mottled texture of rubberwood. If you are purchasing this item I would recommend purchasing it in espresso, walnut or white so the grain is less open. Finally, after all this, I found a small dent in the wooden post. I ended up sending this item back. A designed setup at this price point should have a settings bar, not the low one it currently has.

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • No uniform required
