They work great and you can show off all yours.
They work great and you can brag to all your cross stitch friends. "Yes, I use gold plated needles. I'm sooo cool." To be honest, your friends don't care and they'll probably scold you for paying extra for gold needles. They're not that much more expensive though, and if you tend to waste your needle on projects don't mean "come back later", don't leave rust marks on your fabric. :-)
