This system was easy to set up and operate. Changing frequencies with the pairing process is easy. The controls and settings on the main unit appear to be of good quality and I like the option of separate XLR or mixed mono outputs. The range from the hip bag to the receiver is also impressive, which was one of the purchase decisions for me after our old device was discontinued. Unfortunately, there is a noticeable "wavy sound" in the audio. The first thing that struck me was hearing someone breathing in or out in a steady tone. I was concerned that the person had an upper respiratory infection (or COVID) due to the ripple of the sound. After testing the beltpacks myself, it turned out that the ripple was not in the dynamics, but in the block. Multiple straps, multiple microphones, tested different frequencies and disabled all potential device interference. The problem seems to be in the receiver itself. Contact Phenyx Support and return the device if no solution is found. Extremely disappointed with the sound quality. Updated 3/8/2021. Almost a week went by and there was no reply (not even an automatic reply). Support contacts listed on the box. However, I ordered an extra wireless microphone in addition to the 4 wireless bands that came with it. HANDHELD WIRELESS MIC WORKS PERFECTLY! An additional microphone plugs into one of the channels with no problem (instead of the 4th beltpack) and has NO wavy, slightly distorted sound at certain frequencies. This leads me to suspect that the problem is with the wireless bodypack transmitter or the lavalier mic itself. I've also tried different foam tips on a lavalier mic and recorded without the foam covering to no avail. Due to lack of time to return the product I requested a replacement from Revain which was promptly dispatched. When testing the first belt pack, I noticed the same problem as with the other belt packs. Updated 05/10/2021. I've had more interactions with Phenyx support that have been helpful. I tested the Samson Mini XLR microphone on a Phenyx waist pack and the wave noise seems to have disappeared. I believe that there are (for me) problems with the microphones on the belt. We're still working with support to fix this. I will post updates as more information becomes available. I noticed that the system is not sold with any lavalier mics other than the ones that came with the system when it was purchased.
