I bought this mattress pad because my dog is battling bladder cancer and has the occasional accident in my bed. That was redemption. It effectively protected my bed and kept it completely dry with no leaks or seepage. It's comfortable to sleep on and doesn't make the rustling noise you'd expect from a plastic pad. The terry cloth covering it probably helps with that. I ended up buying a second one so I always have a clean, dry one in case something happens in the middle of the night and I don't want to wait to wash and dry the bedspread before remaking my bed. I highly recommend it.
