I never thought I would want a waterproof coating but I do. My little one usually sleeps well at night and doesn't wear braces, but accidents sometimes happen. We had an accident with a full bladder and it swallowed everything and the mattress was completely dry! We have a similar cover on our bed and the protection isn't as good. It also has a soft embossed cotton on top which I think helps a lot.

My daughter had bladder problems and we used a plastic case. I thought I'd try. This sheet is amazing. Doesn't look or sound like plastic, the elastic goes quite far under the bed so the sheets actually stay on the mattress and best of all it keeps the mattress completely dry after a fall. I am very happy with this sheet and will be ordering another one!

I bought this mattress pad because my dog is battling bladder cancer and has the occasional accident in my bed. That was redemption. So far so good. Washed cold, do not bleach. Come out clean and smelling fresh. I suggest washing it immediately if you let it dry there will be stains and odor. I won't tumble dry it, I don't see how it won't dry out and crack the rubber, even on a low temperature. I hang to dry. Has survived several washes and still not seeping onto the mattress.
