I read other people's comments before purchasing, and here's what worked for me: 1) Reading is the foundation. Read the instructions before you begin. 2) Soak white 100% cotton laundry for 2 minutes before dyeing. Squeeze out excess water after 2 minutes. 3) I used small hair ties instead of the hair ties that came with the kit. 4) I used my own nitrile gloves instead of the junk gloves that came with the kit because I wanted to keep my hands makeup free. 5) Check the performance of YOUR microwave oven before determining the appropriate "cook time”. I didn't have tanning clothes because I timed my microwave correctly. Note: There is a table in the instructions. 6) Allow your microwaveable clothing to dry completely before washing or wearing. 7) I cooked everything in a stainless steel kitchen sink for easy cleanup. 8) Be careful when shaking the bottles to mix the color powder and water. kids are trash. I avoided the mess by keeping my finger firmly on the lid and shaking it slightly. Enjoy! This is a great easy to use kit if you read the instructions and use common sense.
