Edit: It stopped working less than a year after purchase. The indicator light on the heater won't turn on and I noticed that the water seemed cold so I turned the heater on. It is set at 82 degrees Fahrenheit. A day later the water temp is still 68 so it looks dead. I will be looking for a different brand heater to replace as I don't want to buy a new heater every winter. Save your money and buy a quality heater from the start. First review below: I put a 200w heater in my 38 gallon turtle tank and set it to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. It took about a day for the water to rise from 64 degrees to 74 degrees Fahrenheit. Now down to 76 (about three days after I put it in). I like that the temperature rises slowly; The heater was probably designed to prevent the glass from breaking, but this is useful as the slow rise in temperature will not shock the fish in the water. My guppies and minnows are happy and my turtles seem to be more active too.
