KILLED MY BETA. Suitable for aquarium heaters and coolers

I wish I could give 0 stars which I never did before. I bought it exactly a month ago, it kept my 2 gallon tank at exactly 78 degrees which was great for my beta, he was happy and enjoying life! I just got home at 11:30pm to find him dead, which broke my heart. Then I touched the tank and it was HOT and I mean HOT even for me. I looked at my thermometer and it read 90 degrees. It literally set my fish on fire. I'm so mad and angry. You buy a product designed to help LIVE life and it kills it…

The thermostat failed and killed the fish.

Warning! When I got this 2 months ago I noticed that the heater light went on and off when it was a warm day. I even disabled it once, thinking it shouldn't be enabled. I went to a matinee today and when I came back I lost 2 fish and my ghost shrimp. I have living plants and many of them have withered. Of course I control the light (on), control the temperature, it was almost 90°! The poor things are screwed up! ☹ I immediately took them all out, did a water change, the rest seems to be fine…

  • Beautiful packaging

Has a fatal flaw :(

MONITOR THE TEMPERATURE IN YOUR TANK CAREFULLY. Either buy an alarm if it gets too hot or check the thermostat more often. I have these Heater for about nine months and "I've used it in a 10 gallon tank. It's been working GREAT to date. It broke one night and heated my tank to OVER 110 Fahrenheit. and three dead snails boiled alive. It was heartbreaking. There's a fatal flaw in these heaters." They're cheap and when they work, they work great, but you're taking a risk if you buy one of these…

Great water heater for a small aquarium!

I was skeptical about this water heater after reading so many conflicting reviews but I am happy to report that this cheap water heater is working well after 4 months of use ! In the beginning I kept the top of the heater away from the water because I wasn't sure if it was allowed. I found this made the indoor thermometer inaccurate and made the water too warm. I've also learned that holding the attachment in the water like that isn't good for the heater in the long run either. Now everything…

The heater failed and all my fish died.

I bought this heater when I noticed the one I had had become unstable. I was glad it was cheap because it was just before the holidays and I wanted to save some money. Tetra has always been around and I thought it was a brand I could trust. However after using this heater for about 3 weeks I fed my chain fight and female roosters and saw that they were covered with me. It shocked me because this tank I've never had before. Then I noticed the temperature was 67 degrees Fahrenheit. The heater…

Overheated and killed the fish.

I would like to start by saying that I never write negative reviews, but this time I had to write in the hope that it would help someone else. I used this in my 10 gallon tank with my rooster fish. This worked a few months ago but I check it every day. I checked it in the morning and the temp was fine, about 86 or so. However, when I came back at night (after 12 hours), it was over 100 degrees. My beloved pet was dead and the heater was hissing when I pulled him out of the water. When it…

Aquarium temperature control for dummies!

I like these. I have maintained tropical aquariums for 45 years and temperature control is a breeze. I just put them in the aquarium, give them time to acclimate and plug them into the mains. Nothing needs to be adjusted. Most tropical fish can tolerate temperatures in the 8-10 degree Fahrenheit range and these factory set heaters are within that range. All my fish are perfectly healthy and spawn regularly. Here's another tip: instead of buying 1 heater, buy 2 at half the power you need and put

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Useless features

I bought 2 of these for my betta tanks, they are both about 5 gallons, the fish always seemed lethargic and lay on the bottom of the tank. I read that they like lukewarm water so I bought them after checking prices at my local pet store. The same at Meijer cost twice as much which made me worry if it would be decent. I plugged both of course into each tank, attached the suction cups, there was nothing to adjust at all, the red light came on and said it was working, after about an hour it turned

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Crumpled

THIS HEATING WILL NOT WORK FOR A LONG TIME!

This could easily have killed my cock! I bought this heater to keep my 3 gallon tank warm. I followed the instructions as for setting up the aquarium as this is my first time caring for a fish. At first glance it is striking that there is no switch or light to indicate that the device is even working! Everything seemed fine on the first day. I haven't bought a thermometer yet, so I checked the temperature of the water by hand. My crescent betta seemed to be behaving normally. By the second day…

Pros
  • Quality construction

  • Requires outlet
