Review on Tetra HT Submersible Aquarium Heater: Efficiently Regulate Temperature with Electronic Thermostat by Jenn Hartman

Overheated and killed the fish.

I would like to start by saying that I never write negative reviews, but this time I had to write in the hope that it would help someone else. I used this in my 10 gallon tank with my rooster fish. This worked a few months ago but I check it every day. I checked it in the morning and the temp was fine, about 86 or so. However, when I came back at night (after 12 hours), it was over 100 degrees. My beloved pet was dead and the heater was hissing when I pulled him out of the water. When it breaks, it doesn't just stop working — it can overheat to the point of killing almost any fish, even tropical ones. If you have such a heater, you can reduce the risk of overheating by handling it. carefully. Never run it over water (if you need to take it off, unplug the power cord first). But honestly, it's not worth the risk. Don't buy cheap heaters. Too much can go wrong. Spend the extra money and buy a better one and hook it up to your alarm clock for double the security. Don't lose your pets because of this. Please do your best for your animals and take care of them. I hope this can help someone else. I love my fish and want them to be safe. I recommend paying a little more and keeping your animals safe.
