Review on Tetra HT Submersible Aquarium Heater: Efficiently Regulate Temperature with Electronic Thermostat by Eric Brooks

Revainrating 1 out of 5

The heater failed and all my fish died.

I bought this heater when I noticed the one I had had become unstable. I was glad it was cheap because it was just before the holidays and I wanted to save some money. Tetra has always been around and I thought it was a brand I could trust. However after using this heater for about 3 weeks I fed my chain fight and female roosters and saw that they were covered with me. It shocked me because this tank I've never had before. Then I noticed the temperature was 67 degrees Fahrenheit. The heater light was red but the water was not heated. I've had these chain botias for 7 years and have had trouble getting hold of them. These are delicate fish that easily contract ichthyophthyriasis and do not tolerate most procedures related to ichthyophthyriasis. All of my fish died despite my best efforts to save them. I'm super POed I thought this is a brand I can trust. Save your money and the lives of your fish. It would be safer to invest in a more expensive heater than this poorly made cheap one. I will never buy Tetra brand products again. I also work in the pet industry and am hesitant to recommend these products to my customers.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Almost never
