Nice compact device with white noise, more or less average quality. The device itself is reliable, but its characteristics are mediocre. The car has a light that dims and turns on simply by touching the center of the top of the device. However, dimming doesn't really reduce the amount of light for sleeping. The light itself is white, and maybe it would be better if it was a darker shade (like blue). Dimming still gives glaring light. If a night light is needed in the children's room, this could work. But for an adult it may seem that it is too bright and he will just turn it off. The sounds are mixed. The breaking waves are a little harsh. The "music" sounds are okay when the volume stays low, but they keep repeating the same basic melody, which can be annoying. The sound of dripping water is almost like torture. The roar of a thunderstorm, the murmur of a brook, the chirp of crickets, and the chirping of birds are all okay. One of the sounds should just be white noise, but we didn't find it when browsing the options. The device is powered by a USB cable (brick not included) and the cable is long enough for placement. There is a timer function that turns off the device after 30, 60 or 90 minutes. The controls above are easy to use. Whether it works for the customer or not ultimately depends on how it is used. When a bright night light is needed and the device's volume control isn't very loud, many sounds work well.
